Meet Our Staff
I grew up in Boise, Idaho the ninth of ten children. Growing up, every year for Christmas & my birthday I would ask for school & teacher supplies to add to my little classroom in the basement, & every day I would recruit willing friends & family members to be my eager students. Teaching has always been my passion & opening a school like Pine Grove Academy is a lifelong dream. After graduating from high school, I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah & following an unforgettable student teaching experience in the inner city of Washington, DC, I eventually graduated from BYU with a degree in Elementary Education. Over a period of several years, I taught different grades at the elementary level & earned my Master's Degree in Teaching & Learning from Grand Canyon University. My husband, Mick, & I have five children (two girls & three boys) who are our greatest joy! We moved to the Spokane/North Idaho area five years ago & quickly fell in love with the people as well as the beautiful surroundings. Our two youngest children attend school here at Pine Grove Academy. Our family loves to be on the go doing anything outdoors including skiing, hiking, biking, & boating. We also enjoy music, sports, making & eating good food, playing games, spending time with family & friends, & traveling. I am excited to share my love of children, learning, nature, service, & faith in Jesus Christ with each member of the Pine Grove Community
One of my greatest joys is discovering new things in this beautiful world! While I am a lover of good books and dark chocolate, I have a passion for teaching! I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University. Following my schooling, I taught in both public (2nd and 4th) and private schools (preK). During that time one of my primary goals was to instill in my students a love of learning and a desire to explore the world around them. After teaching for several years life took me out of the classroom and across the country. Although I was not teaching in the classroom, I found creative ways to continue to teach including teaching online English lessons to Korean students, homeschooling my own children, and teaching art and science classes in my own home. Now my family and I are happy to be settled in the Northwest. As a family, we enjoy skiing, biking, playing games, reading, and exploring our backyard woods. I am honored to be a part of the Pine Grove Academy community and eager to get back into the classroom. I hope it will be a safe haven that will promote intellectual and spiritual growth, encourage community service, and inspire students to become their best selves. I believe that until we reach the hearts of students we will never reach their minds.

I am honored to be a part of this educational journey with you and Pine Grove Academy. I am passionate about education and inspiring children to become lifelong seekers of knowledge and personal growth. I graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2003 and received my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Washington State University. I hold an active WA K-8teaching certificate, have taught preschool, substituted in regular and special education classrooms, and spent countless hours volunteering in schools. Still, my greatest experience has come from dedicating my life to my three wonderful children for the past 14 years. They, along with my husband Steve, are the joys of my life. We enjoy kayaking, hiking, biking, soccer, playing games, reading, and just about anything else as long as we are together.
I feel fortunate to be a part of this warm and dynamic Pine Grove Academy team and can’t wait for the learning to begin!
3rd and 4th grade teacher
Staci earned her Elementary Education degree from Brigham Young University- Idaho. She taught middle school math and science, substitute taught in public schools of all grades and tutored middle school-aged students in all subjects. Since then, Staci has spent many years raising five lively boys and mentoring children and youth at church, which she feels has only enhanced her experience in educating and teaching. She is now thrilled to have the opportunity to incorporate her faith and love for God with secular education. Staci loves outdoor recreation (especially mountain biking, hiking, boating, and skiing), yoga, gardening, playing the piano, and reading.

I am so excited to be a part of this powerhouse staff at Pine Grove Academy! It's interesting to see how our paths have crossed over recent years to make this feel like it's been meant to be. Since receiving my teaching degree in Math Education from Brigham Young University, I taught for three years at a Junior High and have tutored math students regularly since moving to Spokane 10 years ago. My husband, Jon, and I brought our family of 4 kids across the US from NY to make the Pacific Northwest our home and we have loved living in such a beautiful place. Sometimes I joke that my phone has more pictures of the skies and surrounding scenery than of my kids! Jon and I absolutely love to travel and adventure together. Some of our favorites have been exploring small towns in Italy, yearly humanitarian trips to Honduras, and scuba diving in Fiji. Closer to home, I love skiing as a family, volunteering at the local food bank, coaching a club volleyball team, cooking, watching a good chick flick, reading, and road biking. With it now feeling right to return to the classroom, I am so excited to be a part of your child's education. I know that Pine Grove Academy offers so much more than an academic education. I feel honored to be a part of building your child's confidence and personal relationships with others and with the Savior.
What a blessing it is to teach the Pre-K learners this year at Pine Grove Academy! I love this age because children are so hungry for undiscovered knowledge, it is a true joy to be surrounded with such pure and innocent spirits. I have had a passion for teaching from a young age. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Early Childhood Education and have taught in both public and private preschools. I have also been actively been involved in my children's’ schools as well as in the community for years. I have been married to my hilarious husband, Derek, for 21 years. I currently have four busy and somewhat crazy teenagers so nothing should shock me this year! I have a mini Maltipoo dog named Millie who is quite spoiled with lots of love. I have a great deal of confidence that this unique opportunity to be involved in this school will be a blessing to myself, the students, and the many families involved. I commit to doing my very best to create a classroom that sparks creativity, is engaging, is organized, and that has an environment where all personalities can shine! I look forward to taking this journey together this year!
I am so excited to be a part of Pine Grove Academy this year! I am an experienced homeschool mom of 4 and have already taught the Good and the Beautiful kindergarten curriculum. It has been amazing to see my kids grow with the rich language and artwork and enjoy reading! The math portion has made their number sense grow in a short amount of time and they actually have fun doing it! I put my husband through medical school by working in corporate business operations and owned my own photography business that I will be sharing with the children. I know how hard it is to send these little ones off on their own to school in these first years so I will be there to comfort, love, and build them up! Our class will be filled with emphasis on reading fluently and with expression! Movement will be incorporated into our learning as well as fun activities so that we cultivate a love of learning! Your kindergartener will get a lot of one on one assistance and attention which is invaluable in this prime year. I can't wait to go on adventures with our imaginations, grow, and laugh together!
I am from the beautiful Oakland hills in California. I have always loved being creative and have been interested in drawing since I was little. In fact, in the 5th grade, I knew I either wanted to be a Fashion Designer or an Interior Decorator. I attended BYU Provo and received a BA in Fashion Design. I worked in the Fashion industry specifically in San Francisco, Salt Lake, and Santa Barbara as the Assistant Designer for Jeanne Marc, Janet Preece Designs, Firenze leather, and M. Julien. I have 4 beautiful children 2 girls and 2 boys (the boys are identical twins) whom I love so much! I have also volunteered for 11 years in the elementary school as an Art Docent and that’s how I started teaching Art from my home because mothers asked if I would be willing to do so. I have done that also for approximately 11 years. I am bilingual (English/German). My mother is from Germany and my father is from France. And basically, I just love doing anything creative and I love kids!
I absolutely love being part of Pine Grove Academy! I attended Brigham Young University-Idaho and majored in a cluster of health, fitness, and English education studies. I have always had a passion for kids and love watching them excel and grow in their efforts! I feel I learn more from their sweet examples every day. I currently teach small groups for Math, Language Arts, and Physical Education. I enjoy spending free time outside running, biking, or hiking with my husband Aaron and energetic pup, Wilson. We will be welcoming our first child in April 2021!
